Here’s a great idea to bring all the Fall coziness that you have inside to the outside. I’ve said it before that my favorite time of year to spend on our patio is during the Fall, the fire, a blanket and of course beautiful lighting, this yard sale find quickly became my favorite Fall project 🍂

Here’s the video I created making these. I hope you like this idea and consider making them!

I made this one a few years ago with an old glass hurricane top I had, sadly to say I forgot to bring it in one windy night and it shattered ☹️ BUT, lucky for me it wasn’t long before I was able to recreate this beauty!

I found not one, but two of these hurricane glass toppers at a yard sale still in boxes!

You’ll need a potato peeler and a box of gold thumbtacks, I got both from the dollar store

And of course you’ll need a beautiful pumpkin, now I did this with the heirloom variety (sometimes called Cinderella pumpkins) but you can certainly do this with a regular variety of pumpkin!

I placed the hurricane glass on the top of the pumpkin over the stem and traced a circle around it

I cut out the circle, this variety of pumpkin tends to have thicker skin so you may need to work at it a little harder to get the circle out

I removed the top, carved and cleaned out a few inches down so my glass could fit inside comfortably

Then I got to work on making the flower design, simply use the end of the peeler to carve out the petals in a floral design you like, I chose to do simple ones

Then I placed a thumbtack in the center of each flower, and went a bit further on these and added a simple scroll design around the flowers, with or without the scroll you certainly can customize these to your liking, using colored thumbtacks or making a design other than flowers 🍂

Turned out very cute. Thank you for your inspiration. I wonder how it would be with a fake pumpkin? It’s just a thought. That way it could be used next year. Yours is wonderful. Thank you so much. Have a good day and stay safe.

Ughh, I feel your pain and DEFINITELY go with a faux pumpkin! 😁

Linda I could not stop critters from feasting on my front porch. The smaller critters came up while I was enjoying the evening breezes! Don’t even ask about the “gifts” left behind. Never again
