I can’t wait to show you how I executed this DIY decorative bowl project. I was browsing through one of my favorite home decor websites and I saw this beautiful white basin container for $485. We are going to do much better than that.

I found a wooden serving bowl for a great price. In this step-by-step tutorial, I'll show you how to transform a simple wooden bowl into a stunning decorative bowl.

By following these easy steps, you can create a beautiful dupe for a fraction of the cost. After calculating all the costs, it was only $30.

Tools and materials

  • Wooden serving bowl
  • White gloss spray paint
  • Three decorative knobs
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
Prepping the wooden bowl

Step 1: Prepare the Wooden Bowl

Start by placing your wooden serving bowl on a clean and well-ventilated workspace. Ensure that it's free from any dust or debris.

Applying white gloss spray paint

Step 2: Apply White Gloss Spray Paint

Shake your white gloss spray paint can thoroughly. Spray the entire outside of the bowl, including the bottom. Hold the can about 6-8 inches away from the bowl's surface and apply an even coat of paint. Allow it to dry according to the paint manufacturer's instructions.

Step 3: Spray Paint the Inside

Once the outside is dry, flip the bowl over. Spray-paint the inside of the bowl in the same manner as you did with the exterior. Make sure to cover the entire inside surface evenly. Let it dry completely.

Decorative knobs

Step 4: Choose Decorative Knobs

While the paint is drying, select three decorative knobs that will serve as the feet for your bowl. These knobs should complement your decor style and the color of the bowl.

Drilling holes for the knobs

Step 5: Drill Holes for Knobs

Using your drill, mark and drill three holes equidistant from each other on the bottom of the wooden bowl. Make sure the holes are large enough to accommodate the screws of the knobs.

Step 6: Attach the Knobs

Take your decorative knobs and twist them through the holes you've drilled on the bottom of the bowl. Use a screwdriver to securely fasten them in place.

Step 7: Finishing Touches

Make any necessary adjustments to ensure the knobs are firmly attached and the bowl stands evenly. Check for any spots that may need a touch-up with spray paint.

Step 8: Let It Dry

Allow the entire bowl to dry completely. This ensures that the knobs are securely in place, and the paint is fully cured.
