This is a job for a professional since you are moving a gas line.
The stovetop just drops into the opening in the countertop. You would need to cut a new opening for the stovetop in the countertop and stuck with the old opening unless you have a creative way to cover it up. The problem is the gas line would need to be moved to the location where you want to move the stovetop. It would mean turning the main gas off. Depending where the stovetop is going the gas line can be accessed from the crawl space if you have one. If your not confident better left to a plumber.
Unless you are skilled with gas lines, I would get a licensed professional to relocate the stove top. The reason being is that you don't want to damage your stove top or cause a gas leak.
You need a plumber if you don't know what you are doing. The gas has to be turned off to do so.
Hi Dustin, unless you really know what you are doing, you are best to call your gas provider to do this. They can safely move the line for you and it will be up to code. If you are confident in yourself, hope this helps you.

In order to move the gas cook top.... you will need to move the gas line. This is a job for a Professional... most Plumbers can do this.
You need to move the gas line, and I think this is better left to professsionals. My sister in law who lives in Nebraska was able to call her natural gas company and they did it for her. Not many do this but you can try your company in your state.
Moving a stove requires moving a gas line and if there isn't a gas line in your new location, you'd need one installed, all of which is best done by a professional.
I recommend hiring a professional for this like many others have said! It's probably possible to do yourself, but much safer to have a pro take care of it.
If you don't have experience, I would get a certified plumber.
Thanks for the advice
To move your stove to the truck, we advise utilizing a moving mat, moving planks, or, for optimal results, an appliance dolly because stoves are quite heavy and may easily destroy your floors. You're going to need at least one extra set of hands to assist you.
First, before you do anything, make sure to turn off the gas supply to the stove. This is crucial for safety reasons.
Next, carefully disconnect the gas line from the stove. You may need a wrench for this, so be gentle to avoid damaging the connection.
Once the gas line is disconnected, clear the area around the stove to make it easier to move. Remove any obstacles that might be in the way.
If possible, use a dolly to move the stove. This will make it much easier to transport and reduce the risk of damage.
If you're unsure about moving the stove yourself, or if you want to ensure it's done safely and correctly, consider hiring professionals like wildcatmovers.com. They have the experience and equipment to move your gas stove without any issues.
You can also try calling your natural gas company. They will sometimes re-route your gas line for a small fee.
Hi Dustin: I'd contact your local gas company and have them come over and give you a bit of advice. This isn't something to fool with, so if you're not experienced, I'd get someone who is to do the work. Make sure they are licensed, insured and bonded.
